“I don’t have a name but I do have a number – 68. I like it, because as I travel along, I can sing “68, can’t be late”. Let me explain. I am a railway carriage and my home is Whitehead Railway Museum. I am an important carriage because I am used for steam train rides. I love hearing the chatter of excited children and families as the train chuffs up and down the siding.”

68, Can’t Be Late
“As a guide at Whitehead Railway Museum I am often asked about steam trains, carriages and signals. But on one occasion, a visitor pointed to a photograph that we have on display showing 12 railway personnel posing proudly in front of the name-board at Whitehead station in the early 1900s.”

The Schoolmaster’s Bedchamber
Aboard the Celtic Mor,
We head away from Rathlin’s shore
Towards Bengore in dark of night
Leaving behind all twinkling light
The flash of Red and green and white.

I give permission for my story to be used on the Northword StoryTagging project

The StoryTagging project will increase the market reach of creative industry SMEs by developing a digital platform ‘Northword’ that will allow creatives to harness (as stories) much of what makes Northern localities distinctive to the people who live and work there.

Project partners will work with local communities to gather stories that celebrate these local heritage assets that are unique to the NPA area. Stories will be mapped via the ‘Northword’ platform. Several stories shared by the community will be selected by Ulster University and Causeway Coast & Glens Heritage to be recorded by a storyteller to inspire creative works.

StoryTagging project partners will advertise locally for creative SMEs to bring stories to life through new products or works. The project will promote the ‘Northword’ platform internationally and digital marketing models will be applied to enhance the market reach of participating creatives.

Visitors accessing stories will also access information about participating SMEs and their products and works. The project will promote the ‘Northword’ platform internationally and digital marketing models will be applied to enhance the market reach of participating creatives.
